This antique mahogany veneered sideboard had been in a house fire. It survived but with substantial damage to the finish and a few scorch marks. After the fire it was stored in a barn and pretty much forgotten for decades. When the owners were moving to a new house, they decided to see if it could be salvaged. In addition to the finish work, the feet had to be replaced, quite a bit of the veneer cross-banding needed to be replaced, drawer runners needed to be repaired and some decay in the base had to be addressed. It came out so nicely that it is going to get a nice replacement stone top and will occupy a place of honor in it's new home - and not too near the fireplace!
